"One of the many things that have impressed me about working with Influx is the quality of the teaching. The dancers always inspire my students and they have the ability to engage such a wide range of abilities. Working with Influx gives me tools to use in my own teaching I have used so many of their creative ideas!"
Melanie Mason-Hoare head of dance at Heathfield Community School

Influx has a long standing commitment to working with young people. Nicola Penfold and Joanne Willmott are qualified teachers and have long term teaching experience in schools and colleges, and have also visited a range of educational establishments in a freelance capacity. Both dancers have taught in over one hundred schools and colleges with an aim to: "create a supportive environment to challenge young people through dance to reach beyond their expectations" (Joanne Willmott. Teacher and Artistic Director of Influx).

Influx is determined to strive for excellence in dance education and provide a range of opportunities for young people of all ages and abilities. Previous work has included: week-long residencies to create dance performances with cluster schools and colleges, choreographing the ‘performance in a group’ for GCSE, teaching on A-Level, Btec and GCSE dance courses, as well as delivering inspirational year 9 enrichment and inset for teachers. Through our educational work we aim to highlight issues relating to topics linked to the curriculum and focus on specific group needs. Current youth projects include a dance piece celebrating the bicentennial of the abolition of slavery and a drama/dance play based on environmental issues.
